Monarch Oaks

This new construction was a blank slate—expansive white rooms with a grand open floor plan. Our goal was to bring warmth and intimacy to the spaces in a way that balanced the scale of the home.

In the primary suite, we designed a custom bed—an exercise in both proportion and function. The oversized headboard anchors the room, and the bed was built to accommodate the clients’ Eight Sleep mattress, complete with a water reservoir and complex electrical components. Our client loves to read in bed, so lighting was key. Built-in sconces and hidden outlets in the custom nightstands make the space both beautiful and practical.

Our favorite room in the house—the formal sitting room—has a quiet kind of drama. A deep wool berry sofa anchors the space, layered with dark green channel velvet and a graphic wing chair that adds just the right tension. The oversized mirror above the sofa is painted the same color as the shell pink lime plaster walls, which shift with the light like candle glow at dusk. It was a genius move—allowing the scale of the piece to sing without shouting.

Throughout the home, we leaned into atmosphere and intention. In the dining room, that same plaster finish feels subtle and luminous alongside a large-scale photograph from Dale Goffigon’s Cuba series. The home office, once imposing, now feels tailored and calm—thanks to custom millwork, moody olive paint, and a grasscloth-clad ceiling. And in the family room, warm-toned fabrics and sheer drapes create a soft, filtered light that shifts throughout the day. Every room was designed to reflect the clients’ rhythm, their rituals and the beauty of everyday living.
