HOLLY SPRINGS

Completed in Fall 2021, we were involved with this project from its inception. We worked closely with the client and builder throughout the new build process to ensure that the design plan integrated seamlessly with the architectural elements of the home. We also fully furnished the project.

The client's goal was simple, yet specific: a family space blending modern living with the hometown charm and character of New Orleans. We were challenged with giving this large home a cozy, inviting feel while incorporating the desired character. Balance was the answer.

We used warm white backdrops and draperies to set the scene, then added character through custom millwork and carefully chosen antiques. Modern artworks brought color and life to the spaces, and kid-friendly areas were designed for carefree play.

To achieve a timeless feel, we used classic materials like limestone, marble, unlacquered brass, and white oak flooring. Art was a key player, bringing color and personality to each room. Some choices anchored the room's color palette while others told a story.

We paid homage to New Orleans by sourcing furniture, art, wallcoverings and lighting from artisans in the Crescent City. We enjoyed balancing the new with the old in jewel box spaces, like the parlor. Discovering "wow" pieces for these areas was especially rewarding, like the antique mirror above the fireplace. We also fell in love with an antique console we sourced for the Family Room.  These pieces were key to complete the harmonious visual dialogue of the home. The result is a harmonious blend of modern comfort and hometown nostalgia, a space where family life and the spirit of New Orleans blend seamlessly.
